I am an Australian government worker, writer and anthropologist convinced that we can all do better to make the world a fairer place.
My work and study over the last two decades, managing homelessness in Australian capital city settings and responding to large scale displacement following natural disasters in Asia has allowed me to respond to homelessness in many different forms.
In 2022, I was privileged to complete a Churchill Fellowship, investigating how councils can end homelessness while balancing responsibilities to the wider community.
I am firm in my belief that local government can play a pivotal role in ending homelessness. Devoted to enhancing knowledge and capacity in the sector, I work to educate and advocate for greater recognition and funding to bolster councils' efforts in prevention and finding ways to end homelessness.
My report, Everybody’s Business offers practical guidelines and real-world case studies, equipping local government with a strategic framework focused on four key pillars:
With extensive local experience and international best practice knowledge, I can help your council, library or organisation make homelessness everybody's business.
Help your councillors, key staff and partners better understand why local government should respond to homelessness and what they can do.
Build a homelessness strategy from ground up - one that engages and involves your key stakeholders and makes homelessness everybody's business.
More libraries around Australia are engaging social workers to assist patrons with complex needs. Learn how to establish your own program.
Lead the narrative and drive collaboration in your local community. Plan and deliver targeted communications, backed up by local evidence.
Find the right mix of approaches and tools to evaluate, improve and measure the impact of your work.
A rapid and proven process to help you to predict and respond to situations that could significantly affect operations and reputation.

I acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which I live and work, the Wurundjeri people and pay my respect to Elders past, present and emerging. I acknowledge with sorrow the impacts of colonialism on Australia's First Nations people including unacceptable levels of homelessness, displacement, economic injustice, and discrimination.
Sovereignty has never been ceded.
